The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office and local police departments conducted a coordinated cleanup along the trail system. Sheriff Bill Schrom says the encampments have turned areas of the trail into literal garbage lots, noting that trail users have increasingly reported safety hazards and public indecency.Meanwhile, a massive global event takes over the Crystal City today. The annual Glass Art Society conference officially kicks off in Corning, bringing over sixteen hundred artists from thirty-five countries to the Southern Tier.
